Bills and Laws
Trafficking is illegal, but we’re seeing government leaders take a look at other laws that may create loopholes for trafficking.
Representative Glenn Grotham of Wisconsin and Representative Lance Gooden of Texas have introduced H.R. 4869, the Migrant Child Safety Act, a bill to protect unaccompanied migrant children inside the U.S. by proposing greater scrutiny and screening for sponsors.
California Democratic Legislatures reversed their decision to strike down a proposed bill that would increase penalties for trafficking a child for sex.
Governor Ivey of Alabama signed the Sound of Freedom Act, the nation's toughest law on anti human trafficking.
Pledges
After a screening of Sound of Freedom, El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele signed a letter of intent pledging to end child slavery.
Rescues
As reported on August 1, the FBI located 200 victims of sex trafficking and identified or apprehended 126 suspects of child exploitation and human trafficking.
