Don't Get Scammed: How to Work with Angel Studios

Hey, Angel Studios supporters and fans, 

Jordan Harmon, Angel Studios President, here. There has been a recent scam going around that we want to clear up. Various authors and screenwriters have received an email asking them to send money in exchange for Angel Studios making their story into a movie. 

We want to clear the air and say, definitively, that these emails are not coming from me or any of our team members at Angel Studios. We do not review books or scripts, nor solicit large upfront payments. Angel Studios’ operates with a mission aimed at democratizing the film industry. 

To do this, we use the Angel Guild, a voting body of hundreds of thousands of investors and members, to choose what movies and TV shows we distribute next. That means any filmmaker who wants to work with Angel Studios must submit a Torch to the Angel Guild. The Angel Guild then votes on whether or not the project amplifies light and should be acquired by Angel Studios. 

This is the only way we operate. I do not send out cold calls or direct emails to authors or screenwriters. If you’ve submitted a Torch to the Angel Guild, you will hear from an Angel Studios representative, and then if your project passes the Guild, we will begin discussing your potential future.
