From Film to Series: HOMESTEAD Expands and Announces Charles Esten, Jill Wagner, and Sam Page in Key Roles
HOMESTEAD the Movie to Release in Theaters December 20, 2024, with Series that Continues the Story to Follow
Provo, UT—October 17, 2024
Actors Charles Esten, Jill Wagner, and Sam Page are set to join the cast in the new Angel Studios TV series “HOMESTEAD,” a post-apocalyptic drama about the survival of a community within a doomsday compound. The series is a direct continuation of the highly anticipated film HOMESTEAD starring Neal McDonough (Band of Brothers, Yellowstone), Bailey Chase (Longmire), and Dawn Olivieri (House of Lies), which is set to debut in theaters December 20, 2024.
Based on the Best-Selling book series Black Autumn by Jeff Kirkham and Jason Ross, this gripping television series is a post-apocalyptic drama about a family’s attempts to survive after a world-ending tragedy. Best described as “The Last of Us” meets “Seal Team,” “Homestead” is set against the backdrop of a collapsing civilization and tells the gripping story of two families—the ultra-prepared wealthy family and the military veteran family they’ve hired for security—who clash in a world teetering on the brink of chaos. As tensions rise and the dangers outside grow, evidence mounts that divine intervention may play a role in their survival.
Charles Esten (Outer Banks, Nashville, Tell Me Your Secrets) joins the cast as ‘Cain Ross,’ a tall, commanding figure with a rugged presence. Cain is Ian's brother and is responding to a plea for help from Homestead, but his lone wolf persona clashes with the group’s living life by committee rule.
Jill Wagner (Lioness, Braven) plays ‘Jacq Reynolds,’ a pregnant therapist in her third trimester who must navigate her new role within the inner circle of Homestead while helping others cope with their trauma. Unprepared for the deep religious feeling that has swept over many of the survivors, Jacq uses her communications skills to get the most deeply stoic / deeply wounded to open up and talk about the horrors they have seen.
Sam Page (Mad Men, House of Cards, Grey's Anatomy) portrays ‘Tom Reynolds,’ Jacq’s husband and a resilient engineer invited by his college roommate Ian Ross to Homestead. Tom quickly jumps to the middle ranks of Homestead society. Having come from a Texas set ablaze by the conflict, Tom is grateful for the respite, for however brief it may be.
“HOMESTEAD” the series is produced by Angel Studios, 10ton, Skies Fall Entertainment, 2521, and Radiate Pictures. The series is helmed by showrunners Jason Ross, co-author of Black Autumn, and Ben Kasica, founder of Skies Fall Entertainment.
